Charity campaigner, TV presenter, author and former Andover resident Katie Piper has kindly agreed to open the Lake Run Andover on Sunday 16 September 2018.

The former model was badly scarred and left blind in one eye in an acid attack arranged by her ex-boyfriend in 2008, and has since undergone more than 100 operations to rebuild her face after being left disfigured.

In 2009 she set up a charity The Katie Piper Foundation to help people with burns and scars to reconnect with their lives and their communities.  The charity’s vision is a world where scars do not limit a person’s function, social inclusion or sense of well-being.

Katie is just about to begin an inspirational speaker’s tour, What’s in My Head.  On her tour, she will be sharing what she has learnt and what helped her remain positive through the toughest of times. The tour begins in Andover on 13 March 2018.

Jules Pertwee, Chairman of The Lake Run, Andover, said ‘We are thrilled and honoured to have Katie Piper opening the Lake Run this year.  She is an extraordinary and inspiring person and it is wonderful to have her support for the foodbank and for this fun event in her hometown.

The Lake Run Andover are delighted to have Katie at the popular event, which raises money for the Andover foodbank,  on 16 September 2018 and look forward to seeing lots of runners and supporters welcoming Katie in her hometown.
