The Lake Run – latest news

The Andover foodbank Lake Run takes place on Sunday 16 September 2018 this year will be opened by Katie Piper who has just announced that she will be competing in Strictly Come Dancing.  The money raised at the Lake Run will be used to help those in crisis in Andover.

There are three races: a 10k, a 5k and a 2k. This year the organisers are collaborating with Andover junior parkrun and the 2K run at 9am will be the Park Run. The 5K and 10K start at 10.30am. There will be hot and cold drinks, refreshments and an ice cream van a the event which takes place at Charlton Athletics Pavilion.  The route is multi terrain, gentle and mostly flat along established footpaths and across one road. The route goes past Charlton and Anton Lakes taking in the beautiful and peaceful scenery of the backwaters of Andover.

There are prizes and medals for the first three places in the 10k and 5k and for Veterans and Super Veterans in the 10k.  All runners, including those in the 2k, will receive a medal. In addition to individual entrants, teams of 6-10 runners from local companies can enter the Fittest Company Cup sponsored by the Andover Advertiser.  Why not enter with your colleagues this year?

If runners raise additional money through sponsorship they will become a member of Team AFB.  There are three award levels or: bronze for donations from £1 to £50, silver for £51 to £150 and gold for over £150.  Members receive a limited edition badge, a certificate acknowledging their achievement and information throughout the year on how their donation is making a difference in Andover.  In addition if you donate £100 or more you will receive a Lake Run t-shirt.  Sponsorship forms are available or runners can set up a fundraising page at MyDonate
